Extracts from the 4th General Conference
Kathmandu, Nepal-1984
The General Conference was held on 15 and 17 November 1984 during the fifth ACRS. Presided over by Mr. K.B. Malla, the General Conference was attended by the following countries: Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. Indonesia became a new member during the session. Some of the decisions made during the General Conference were:
The conference adopted the following resolutions:

Inclusion of Photogrammetry in ACRS. A new technical session of photogrammetry including photo-interpretation related to remote sensing was approved to be set up by the next Asian Conference on Remote Sensing.
Expansion from Bulletin to Journal. The General Secretary proposed that the present bulletin should be expanded to journal provided that assistance from each country could be given. Each member country shall submit a few selected papers every year
Length of Papers for ACRS. The General Conference also decided that the maximum length of papers to be included in the proceedings of ACRS be 10 pages. Any excess will be charged at a rate of US$50 per additional page. Regarding the national presentation, it was agreed that each Asian country to submit one national report.
Co-Chairman of ACRS Sessions. The General Conference also decided that co-chairmen of the ACRS sessions would be nominated from various member countries, although the chairmen of the sessions shall be nominated only from the host country.
